Registering a death
Due to new legislation under the UK Emergency Coronavirus Act, all registrations of a death are now to be carried out remotely. This means that there will be no face to face appointments to register a death until further notice. Instead, we'll guide you through the process over the phone.
Your GP, hospital doctor or funeral director will be aware of the new procedure and will email all relevant documentation to registrars@eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk.
We will then get in touch you to give further information and to support you through the registration process. Our aim will be to contact you within 2-3 working days of being notified of a death.
We appreciate this is an extremely difficult time. If you need more information contact us.
Registering a birth
If your baby was born in Scotland, you can register the birth at any registration office in Scotland.
Birth registrations will be carried out on an appointment basis.
At the appointment you'll be asked to bring the Birth Registration Card that's issued by the hospital.
If both parents are married, only one parent should attend and (if possible) bring along your marriage certificate.
If the parents aren't married to each other, both parents need to attend the appointment.
